Other Courses/Classes

Bronze Course - an on-going course for puppies that have completed the puppy foundation course and for beginner adult dogs, whether they've done the puppy foundation course or not. The Bronze Course teaches all the basics of obedience training, as well as many vital socialisation aspects and responsible dog ownership. Modules include: basic positions, walking on lead (including road walking), come back when called, handling and inspection, basic first aid for dogs, door/gate control, food manners, the retrieve, the stay, coming away from distraction, and much more, including some fun and games to keep the dogs excited and interested in their training. During the course, the instructor will assess when the dogs are ready for the KCGCDS Bronze Test. As and when a handful are ready, those dogs and owners will be invited to take part in the GCDS Bronze Test (conducted by an external examiner). It's very difficult to put any time-scale upon when a dog will be ready for Bronze, as all dogs progress at different rates. For most dogs, it's anywhere between 8 and 16 weeks. We don't like to put any dog in for the test unless we feel they are ready.

Silver Course - for more advanced dogs. Dogs must have completed the Bronze Course (and obtained a “pass”) to participate in the Silver Course. This course is tailored to those who have completed Bronze and who want to take their dog's training to another level, while at the same time having fun and enjoying weekly training classes. At the end of the course, all dogs and owners will be invited to take part in the GCDS Silver Test (conducted by an external examiner).

Gold Course - for very advanced dogs who have completed and passed both the Bronze and Silver Courses. Gold is just that, it is the highest level obtainable within the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme. Many, many dogs enjoy the new and challenging aspects of training that the Gold level brings, including modules such as the “send-away” the “emergency stop” and the “out of sight stay”. At the end of the course, all dogs and owners will be invited to take part in the GCDS Gold Test (conducted by an external examiner).

Our four core courses (Puppy Foundation, Bronze, Silver and Gold) closely follow the requirements needed to obtain the corresponding awards within the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme. However, we also do much more besides! We believe it is crucial that a dog has fun, and enjoys his or her training, along with their owner. Adding fun aspects creates a much more relaxed atmosphere to train within, and that's what we're all about, here at Pawsitive.

Puppy Course

At Pawsitive, we pride ourselves in being able to help give puppies the best start in life. Our comprehensive Puppy Course is especially tailored for young pups.
It's a well structured 6 week course during which all the puppy basics are covered, including basic commands (sit, down, stand, come, leave, wait, stay, etc), puppy health and well-being, safe and controlled socialisation with other pups, handling and inspection, road-walking, puppy retrieve, and plenty of fun games through which you and your pup will learn even more.
We ask that all pups have had their second lot of jabs before attending classes (usually around 11 or 12 weeks of age).
Go to the Puppies page to find out more.
